Cypress Island Campground

SB&A is working with the State of Washington Department of Natural Resources (DNR) to renovate existing camping facilities on Cypress Island in the San Juans to accommodate visitors in wheelchairs and kayakers. Great care was taken to ensure as little visual disturbance to the natural surround as possible.
The Island is only accessible by boat or float plane. The site now accommodates able-bodied kayak campers and yachtsmen, however the restrooms needed upgrading and ADA campgrounds sited for a group of handicapped kayakers. The restrooms are solar powered, composting toilet facilities. The campgrounds are located in the backshore of the beach for easy access.
