Yarrow Point Trail

SB&A was retained by the Town of Yarrow Point to develop a walking trail and street lighting adjacent to the main road on the Point, 92nd Avenue N.W., in conjunction with the undergrounding of overhead utilities on the same street. Over the course of 18 months, SB&A prepared design and construction documents and oversaw construction of a meandering footpath setback from the street, entry walls, a new town sign and right of way planting. Working with forty property owners along the half-mile trail, SB&A developed an overall concept, then plantings that were site specific to each adjacent residence, harmonized with their landscapes and retained the overall desired look of the corridor.
The path surface is a new product in the region, a clear epoxy resin mixed with native gravel and fines to appear as a natural dirt or gravel path, but is permanent, firm for ADA access, yet discourages skateboarding. The manufacturer supervised the installation as part of the construction of the project, completed in 2005.
